A Personal Milestone...

There was a time not to long ago that walking a complete mile was impossible for me (granted i was a 260lbs). I remember the feeling of complete and utter exhaustion i felt when i tried jogging for short intervals (bad idea if your overweight) and even the sharp and intense pains of shin splints that followed the next day if i over did it (which i usually did). After months upon months of experimenting with dozens of weightloss and excercies routines (and also miles and miles of logged time on the track and treadmill) i reached a goal today that even i was unaware i could reach. I ran 3 miles straight without rest! Not a light jog or a powerwalk, but a full-on run! I completed 3.5 miles in approx. 31 minutes 9 seconds, a personal best for me. I'll end with this, no matter where you are in life right now dont make the mistake of standing still when you should be racing towards something. Dont get so caught up on where your at currently when where you need to be is somewhere farther off. Be open to the direction God is leading you in, because afterall, who can see further ahead on this road we call life? God saw even more potential in me at a time where i thought i was the best version of myself, and i couldnt be more grateful for that...

Our First Radio Interview!

This past Friday marked yet another accomplishment for the Scripture11 music Ministry. We had our very first radio interview @ KBNJ Studios here in Corpus Christi,TX! As you can probably imagine we were pretty terrified, nervous, and anxious all wrapped in one. We ultimately pulled ourselves together and had a rockin' good time! The whole ordeal consisted of an acoustic set (for those of you who could'nt tune in we played "Narrow Path", "Never Far Away", and ended with "Decide") along with questions in between. The KBNJ staff were a blast to hang out with (Marty rocks! \m/) and they had all of the awesome junk food you could want (i ate nothing for fear of weight gain, lol). All in all, the radio interview was a success and if you're ever in our neck of the woods, be sure to tune into the Rock 7 Show (9pm-12 Midnight) on LifeChanging 91.7FM KBNJ!

In Case You Were Wondering: A Personal Sidenote...

To those of you who have been fans of S11 for awhile or went to some of our shows last year may be wondering the same thing alot of my own family and friends who have seen me lately our wondering...WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU! Lol. Well upon much self-reflection during our break i decided it was time to make some changes in my life. I decided to start with one of the most common yet grueling changes of them all...Weightloss! I began this journey weighing in at 260 lbs and as of today i am currently at 195 lbs. This journey of mine is far from over however. I consider it the "tip of the Iceberg" of what God has in store for me. I will be releasing a blog in the near future that will cover this particular subject more in-depth. Never forget these words, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phillipians 4:13). May all glory be directed to the Father. Thank You for the inspiration!

Love And Music

Have you ever noticed that every band, whether it be Christian, Country, Tejano, Rock, Blues, etc., in some way or another, talks about Love? It really amazes me how there is so much secular music pertaining to the subject of Love. Unfortunately, the "love" that they sing of is basically unfulfilled. Most humans search for perfect, complete and fulfilling Love & yet will never see or experience it. This kind of perfect Love is available to us even though I know, from personal experience, that it seems untouchable. First John chapter 4 tells us about this Love. In fact, the entire New Testament tells us how to Love and how to make Love perfect.
It's a daily struggle for me to Love others but it is definitely something to strive for. Afterall, how can I say that I love God if I dont show one of his main characteristics....'Love'?
